...that would be Lux Series by Jennifer Armentrout. No questions asked. There are handful of reasons why this book got me all hooked up. (Well aside from the fact that Daemon Black is the epitome of hotness, which is a plus people!) I know, I know! The story started with the typical cliche good-girl-meets-bad-boy but there's just something in Jennifer Armentrout's writings that will make you grovel for more (figuratively). Originally, I don't go for alien stories but heck, if aliens are as hot and sexy as Daemon, give me all the freaky alien books and I will gladly read it one sitting! Ha. Ha.
Here are my Top 13 Reasons why this goes to my ultimate book series. If you haven't read it yet, better skip this and check out my reviews and blurb below.
1) CLICHE STORY BUT NOT SO CLICHE STORY. The story started the way cliche books always starts. Goodgirl-meets-badboy. Girl moves from City Lights to God-knows-where-West-Virginia. Mom is either a nurse, trader or anything that means she isn't home most of the nights while her daughter is canoodling with an alien or any supernatural. Father is either dead or that at the second or third book has something to do with supernaturals. Girl has a BFF to which she doesn't share secrets of the world dominated by freaky stuffs for "her safety reasons". Boy is the epitome of sexiness and hotness and all other synonyms associated to it. Boy has a crazy ex who still wants to sleep with him and will do anything just to do that. NEED I TO SAY MORE? Anything that you can think of as cliche you can find it in Lux. The thing that makes it not so cliche and I think overshadows every damn thing I said earlier is that Daemon and Katy never said "I love You" after weeks of being together. Heck it was at the end of the third book when Daemon got the guts to say it to Katy. Their love story was slowly built. That ladies and gentlemen is how you keep your readers interested (and not having reflexes to gag) in love stories even after third, fourth or fifth book.
2) FREAKY ALIENS CAN GLOW. I started reading the series last year, I didn't know bioluminescent organism at that time. But now that I do, my fondness to this book increased ten, a hundredth or a thousand notch. Daemon is from Lux Planet and they are called Luxen. See lux is the term used to genes responsible for the quorum sensing of bioluminescent organisms. And bioluminescent is my current research topic and will be thesis topic. So blame me for fantasizing that maybe Luxens are true, maybe one day I will stumble down on some off-limits-government secrets about lux genes,
3). FAST PACE. ENTERTAINING. Early on I told you about Jen's writting. Well I am telling you again that her style of writing is extremely entertaining. No dull moments. You will laugh, be sad, cry your hearts out, Jen can make you feel all these kinds of emotions. She knows how to reach that stone cold heart of yours. So what ya' waiting for?
4) DOUBLE THE DAEMON. DOUBLE THE FUN. Yes! Daemon Black has a twin brother, Dawson Black. Dawson is practically the complete polar opposite of Daemon. So if you do not want an arrogant, stab-worthy sexiness, you can always go for the the goody-shoes version.
5) INSANE STORY LINE IDEAS. As you go along the four books you can't help but ask yourself this "WHERE THE HELL DID JENNIFER GOT THIS IDEAS FROM?" I mean seriously, this book contains every damn thing your imagination can think of.
6) UNEXPECTED TWISTS. There are two types of twist in the story. One where you say "Pffft. That's it? So predictable" And one where you either throw your e-book reader or book because "What the hell did just happen?" And even if you slap your face ten times or re-read chapters after chapters, you didn't see that coming.
7). CLIFFHANGER ENDINGS. Yes. I admit. I love cliffhangers. I love the thrill of waiting. Of knowing that at the end of the day, when the book is released you can say that "It was worth the wait". And Lux Series is so effing worth the wait.
8) BADASS FEMALE LEAD. One of those books where the female lead doesn't need saving. Doesn't need to be protected 24 hours. Katy has developed the alien mojo because of Daemon's healing powers. How cool!
9) SMALL TOWN SETTING. I grew up in a small town in Basilan. So the book got me thinking. What if.... what if there are also paranormal stuffs in our place? EXCITING! TOTALLY!
10) KATY IS A READER AND A BLOGGER. Is it too much to say that I see myself in Katy's shoes? Ha. Ha. Note: It is actually nice to read books that have female protagonist that are readers. Also, Katy loves Wendy Higgins's Sweet Evil series and so do I.
11) TRIPLET HOTTIES. Aliens here were born as triplets. Yes, you read it right, Daemon and Dawson are identical plus Dee, the girl version of the two. Add Andrew and Adam who are equally sexy as the two D's and of course the prima kontrabida Ashley to the party and you will certainly go gaga over it.
12) COOL POWERS. They can travel in the speed of light. Can use lightning. Can heal people. And many other awe-amazing powers.
13) ARUM AND LUXEN MASHED UP. Arums are the counterparts of Luxens, they are dark and they feed on Luxen's entity to live. One insanely hot Arum, Hunter, made an appearance here. Now before you judge me. There's a spin off to this book entitled "Obsession" where the story is told in the Arum's perspective specifically Hunter. The book will certainly made you question your alliances. So will you understand me why a short scene of Daemon and Hunter fighting is I think one of the highlights of the book?
There you go, there are hundred things more that I wanna to share with ya' but I think this could do. For those who haven't read it what are you waiting for? I can assure you that you won't or rather you can't do anything coherent unless you finish reading the series.

"Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I dont kill him first, that it"
-This book is crazy, I mean, I TOTALLY love it. No dull moment, fast pace, no love dramas, and I am in love Kat's character. Whoa, she is very different, brave and not stupid.
Of course, I'm happy with the way the Kat-Daemon ended, it gives me the eagerness, willingness and excitement to continue reading.
I love the way Jennifer wrote the novel! I hope there will be new characters, maybe a love triangle? But not so much to complicate things.
One of my favorite books and its worth reading :)

Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.
Something worse than the Arum has come to town…
The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.
But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…"
As expected Onyx offers a fast pace breath taking scenes and I am happy with the improvements in the story. Also lovin' the twist and concept of mutating humans.
Though, I'm seriously pissed on Katy all throughout the book. Honestly, whoever wasn't pissed with her is a saint. But then, that what makes the story thrilling, without it, I think the female lead will just be like any other lead. So kudos to Jen for making such a hardheaded character.
All in all, the book is great and so worthy to read with. Moving forward with the last on its series :)

Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.
But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger... and they know it"
WHAT THE FREAKING HELL DID JUST HAPPEN???? No. No. No. No. No. Nooooo! This cant possibly happen! YOU CANT END WITH THAT! My gad!!!
I am so SPEECHLESS. I don't know what to say, and I'm dying! I want so badly it hurts to read the fourth book!
Jen is so cruel, she tore my heart to pieces. I feel like punching when I turned out the page and then - BOOOM! Acknowlegement!
You like torturing readers, huh? You OWE US A TOE CURLING, HEAD SLAPPING, HEART STOPPING, BREATHTAKING FOURTH INSTALLMENT!

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.
After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.
All Katy can do is survive.
Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?
Together, they can face anything.
But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?
And will they even be together?"

OH. MY. GOD. Maybe little origin babies messed up with my brain and I cant form a single coherent thought on everything that just happen to the fourth book. STUNNED. SHOCKED. Whatever, still all those things... still so hard to sink in. Maybe I'll get with this review later where I can process everything.
Only thing was certain. Whatever Daemon did put him on top of Ultimate-Book-Boyfriend list. I mean, damn me if my smile wasn't plastered all over my face the entire reading. Well except those last few moments where I was a little teeny tiny bit of annoyed of Daemon's character but was understandable.
And Holy Smokes with the revelation and everything. I got my suspicion but I never thought it was... Well, why do I feel like Jen pretty laid it all on this book?
And don't even start me with the ending. Gosh!
SERIOUSLY? I AM DUMBFOUND. AMAZING. No words can express really. G-A-W-D!
(PS. I was slightly worried about Anna-Kaidan, though I love Sweet Evil series, I want their characters to be different but was relief it isn't much of a issue)

In the stunning climax to the bestselling Lux series, Daemon
and Katy join forces with an unlikely enemy to ensure the survival of not only
their love for each other, but the future of all mankind.
Opposition will bring forth a new dawn to the Lux universe, where man must stand with alien to survive, and the future, no matter the outcome, will never be the same"
